I have never been inside until today. Once we walked in we were greeted by a very nice gentleman that gave us a bit of history of the island and what this place was for. Instructed us on how to walk thru the displays and what was in them and let us go on our own to take it all in. What history there is.. I won't ruin it for y'all but it's great place take the kids. Lots of interactive displays with voice and video documentations. A little girl came up to me from her family and told me to push the buttons to listen to history( too cute right) lol.. I enjoyed reading about the military history and town.. it's free and very interesting..

Yelp said the hours were 2-5...so we showed up at 2:30 only to find out that the hours were actually 11-3. I'm very glad we went early in our vacation so we were able to return the next day to finish our tour.
I originally only wanted to go to this museum for my husband since he loves all things military, especially aircraft. But this museum is SO MUCH more than that. We ended up spending about an hour an a half here, reading about Topsail history. It included a lot of information about nature and Indians and PIRATES. It was very interesting and you can tell that the volunteers love their job. I learned a lot of information here and would highly recommend it to anyone even slightly interested in Topsail history.

Lots of great historical discoveries to be found. In addition to the expected there is a lot of valuable information on the islands non-military history.
The staff was very helpful and willing to answer questions.

This museum was a great one to visit. We have family that has just built a beach house on Topsail Island and we all decided to go visit this museum. We thought it would be a 10 minute visit. It we were so impressed that we ended up watching videos, reading articles, and getting educated how Topsail Island started. If you are ever on this island come visit with friends or a family outing. Checkout my great pictures and come visit.

Neat museum about the history of Topsail island and more. Had a hands on sections for kids and interesting videos about the history. Very helpful and nice staff. Hours of operation are short but it's worth checking out if you like history. It's our first year here on Topsail island so it was neat to read and understand about "operation bubble bee".
