December 10, 2023I upgraded from the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet and this machine has some nice changes and couple flaws.
A little about myself. I'm a truck driver and while I'm no longer OTR, I have been and this is a nice machine for any driver out there. I have been using a CPAP for close to 15 years now. My 1st machine was a ResMed Series M, then the AirSense 10 and now this one. As a Professional Driver I need to be able to access my CPAP information for my DOT Physicals and while I was able to due such with the AirSense 10 via the MyAir App up to the point of 3G cellular going away, the addition of Bluetooth in this machine should give it a longer life past 4G & 5G, as the machine can just connect to your phone or, I assume, tablet where you have the app installed.
This machine is mostly the same as the AirSense 10 with some nice upgrades and one downgrade, see below.
Pros:
The Auto Start is really quick, most of the time is seems like it starts after just one breath. I cannot compare that to my last machine as it never worked, & the DMS Company I used prior lied to me and told me it was not a feature, which I thought was strange as I had and still have an ResMed M Series witch was at least 2 generations older that did have Auto Start. I think they got a defective product and just lied to me about it so they could off load it onto me. Just another reason I no longer use them and use CPAP.com.
We also get a touchscreen vs the knob/button of the 10. The menus are pretty easy to navigate and adjust.
Heated tubing settings are expanded vs the AirSense 10, you can not select from a number of preset temps within the menu. You need to turn off the Humidifier's Auto setting, see more on that in Cons.
I'm so happy to see that they have added Bluetooth (BT) to this device. This should help insure that these devices will be useful for those of us that use the MyAir app and also need to have access to their data easily. I drive truck and I need the data when I renew my DOT Physical. When 3G went away, it caused me some issues as I was not able to access the data myself any longer via the MyAir app. Luckily I found some CPAP Forums where I was able to get some help.
Cons:
While I like that this has Bluetooth (BT), I did have some issues with setting it up. If your MyAir App on your phone is not up-to-date it will make this process harder, so be sure to update it before setting up the device. I didn't have it updated and I think that was much of the issue, but that is also a programing error with this machine as well as it didn't handle that fact as well as other devices I have had to update apps prior to syncing. Other than that the BT should keep this device useful long after 5G is gone.
The humidifier water chamber is smaller than the Air Sense 10. This is an issue for anyone that has the humidifier set at 5 or higher. You will run out of water in the middle of your sleep period, I get about 5-6 hrs out of the chamber before it runs dry and causes me to wake up. Hopefully someone will make an extended water chamber for this machine. My AirSense 10 always had water left each day when I woke up.
The last con relates to the last, the Automatic Humidifier setting. I use heated tubing in the winter and the automatic humidifier setting also controls the tube heat at the same time. While I tried using this the 1st night I didn't sleep as well as I have previously. Once I turned off Auto and adjusted both of these myself I got a much better sleep. I would like to see an option were these were separate from each other in terms of the Auto setting. I would like to try to see if having one or the other set to Auto while I control the setting for the other would work better, as long as the one set on Auto didn't solely base it's setting on how I set the other one.
Best machine of my 20 yr CPAP history

May 4, 2024This is my fourth CPAP in 20 years. The machines keep getting better, smaller, but also more expensive. I was shocked by the price of the ResMed AirSense. However, it is by far the quietest, most responsive and most comfortable machine I've used. It is very easy to travel with. ↵↵I found the adaptive humidification to be superior to the other machines in my fleet with a significant reduction in rainout. However, if you like to sleep in a cold environment then rainout will always be an issue, though it can be greatly reduced by using a heated hose. I continued using my old heated hose with this new machine and it worked OK; 6 months ago I purchased the ResMed integrated heated hose and I like it better because it delivers cooler air, and it's powered by the AirSense - I don't have to carry a separate power brick for the hose. So this makes travelling a little bit easier. Of course, the integrated heated hose is also on the expensive side. ↵↵One minor annoyance - at this price point, I would expect the humidifier reservoir to be made with corrosion-resistant metal and be compatible with plain tap water. I was annoyed that no, the manual says to use distilled water only. ResMed offers a tap-water-compatible reservoir, for an extra price. For what it's worth I've never used distilled water in mine for over a year, and the reservoir still looks OK.

January 1, 2024I recently purchased the new AirSense 11 and was surprised how cheap the unit was made compared to the prior models. I've owned both the ResMed S9 and Airsense 10 and both were well made models. Another big issue with the Airsense 11 is the water chamber. It holds just barely enough water so don't plan on over sleeping else the water will run out when using the auto setting. If you a hair over the fill line, it will spill over. Resmed went to cheap on this one including the climate tubing, also cheaper and less flexible than the tubing made for the prior models. If the price was half the amount, it would make sense, I only went with this model since I wanted the auto adjust pressure and the auto start and stop based on detecting my breathing. The Airsense 10 didn't have both in the same mode, otherwise would have bought another Airsense 10. I'm also hoping Resmed is listening to the feedback from everyone and comes out with a new water chamber for the Airsense 11 that will address the water capacity limitation. For those who don't care about these noted issues or sleeps less than 8 hours so you won't have an issue with the water limitation, the unit works as advertised, just feels very cheaply made.
It’s a great machine. I

October 11, 2024It’s a great machine. I like the fact that I can tweak the settings so easily and get pressure just right for myself.
Hold down both big screen buttons at the same time and it’ll go into an advanced setup
It starts with only a 4 which made me feel like I’m choking and grasping for air.
I changed that to 8, much better and I found out that above 13 I would wake up with chest pains, so I set it to 11 and it’s so much better.
The on-screen advanced morning report is excellent, it tells me exactly what happened last night for my previous sleep.
How the mask fit, how many interruptions per hour, great machine.
The humidifier is excellent, Remember to fill the reservoir while it’s closed. Don’t try to open the clamshell and fill the water. That’s not the correct way to do it. You keep it closed and stand it up and fill the water up through the soft rubber connector.
if you think that you filled up too much water, keep it closed and just tip it over in your sink and any excess water above Max will drain out of it
I fill it up with water directly from Poland Spring hot water dispenser that’s in my kitchen
Really great machine, I hope it lasts as long as the Previous one I owned.
It’s really good the way this one is connected to the web and as soon as you get up, they send you an email to tell you about your sleep and make suggestions.
It’s good for novices. I’ve been using CPAP machines since the year 2000 so I’m a professional.
But even this professional is very impressed.
I love the machine.
