OFF STREET PARKING REGULATIONS<br />
GENERAL INFORMATION SHEET<br />
<strong>Parking</strong> Surfaces - All off-STREET parking spaces shall be paved with an all-weather, dust free<br />
surface and all off-STREET parking shall be limited to paved areas. (180.104.1)<br />
Expansion/New <strong>Parking</strong> Surfaces - A permit from the <strong>Borough</strong> Code Enforcement <strong>Off</strong>icer is<br />
required prior to expansion of existing or creation of new parking surfaces. Contact the Code<br />
Enforcement <strong>Off</strong>ice for information and permit requirements. (180.106.1)<br />
PROHIBITED TYPES OF OFF-STREET PARKING IN ALL DISTRICTS<br />
<strong>Parking</strong> on improperly prepared area or surface except as subject to <strong>Borough</strong> approval on<br />
public property is prohibited (180.89.1.64.1).<br />
Outdoor storage or keeping of IMMOBILE VEHICLES on public or private property is<br />
prohibited (180.89.1.6). An IMMOBILE VEHICLE is defined as: Any mode of conveyance<br />
that may be partially dismantled, being used for spare parts and/or not properly licensed or<br />
inspected for use on the public roadways.<br />
Use of driveway on the front portion of a lot for the parking of vehicles other than licensed<br />
passenger AUTOMOBILES is prohibited (180.89.1.64). An AUTOMOBILE is defined as: A<br />
self-propelled, four-wheeled, free-moving vehicle primarily for personal conveyance on a street<br />
or roadway, including, if unmarked and devoid of advertising, vans and pickup trucks with a<br />
gross weight of five thousand (5,000) pounds, but not including trucks with a gross weight over<br />
five thousand (5,000) pounds, buses or vehicles equipped with living or sleeping quarters.<br />
Trucks and vans not conforming to the definition of AUTOMOBILE must be parked in<br />
accordance with the following:<br />
1. Except for loading or unloading of transient delivery, TRUCK parking in all<br />
Residential Districts is limited to double-wheel, single-axle TRUCKS having a<br />
maximum registered gross weight of eleven thousand (11,000) pounds and classified as<br />
Class 4 by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation. Such<br />
parking shall be limited to the REAR YARD or inside a garage, as defined in this<br />
chapter (180.105.1).<br />
2. In Commercial Districts, TRUCK parking is permitted only for vehicles incidental to<br />
the operation of the business. (180.105.1)<br />
A trailer is defined as a vehicle designed to be towed by a motor vehicle. Except for loading or<br />
unloading of transient delivery, trailer parking is prohibited in all Residential Districts,<br />
except in the REAR YARD, not visible from the STREET, or inside a garage. Trailer parking<br />
in Commercial Districts is permitted only for vehicles incidental to the operation of the<br />
business (180.105.2).
RECREATIONAL VEHICLE PARKING WITHIN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS<br />
One RECREATIONAL VEHICLE may be parked outdoors in the rear and shall not be closer<br />
than 7 _' to any side or rear property line. (180.107.2)<br />
RECREATIONAL VEHICLE parking at the front (areas abutting streets) is not permitted except<br />
temporarily for a maximum period of 72 hours prior to or following use (once in any seven (7)<br />
day period.) (180.107.2)<br />
A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE is any structure mounted on wheels or otherwise capable of<br />
being made mobile for the purpose of travel, recreational and vacation use. This definition<br />
includes but is not limited to travel trailers, collapsible trailers, pickup campers, chassis-mounted<br />
campers, tent trailers, motorized homes and boats on trailers.<br />
CONTINUANCE OF PARKING FACILITIES REQUIRED<br />
Whenever an occupancy permit has been issued and the plans so approved contain automobile<br />
parking and LOADING SPACE provisions, the subsequent use of such property shall be<br />
conditional upon the continuance and availability of the parking and LOADING SPACE<br />
provisions contained in such plans. Any other use of such property shall be a violation of this<br />
Article (180.106). Such provision shall be made in all districts for each separate use as follows:<br />
DWELLING: two (2) paved PARKING STALLS, one (1) of which shall be enclosed<br />
(180.104.1.1)<br />
