----------

Like most new cars, new muscle cars have gotten quite a bit softer. Because of a broader clientele, basic build commonality and smothering safety standards, many of today's offerings perform well, but just don't feel as exciting as their rowdy ancestors. That's where the aftermarket comes in. And while this clean Camaro Super Sport may have left GM's Oshawa facility as a refined grocery getter, it's been carefully whittled into a sharply focused prizefighter thanks to many choice upgrades. Presently, with just 12,343 original miles, a thoroughly modified suspension and 479 horses flowing directly to its rear wheels, the car is a brutal, vintage-sounding road rocket. And, whether you're looking for a hardened curve-carver or just a genuinely fun hot rod, it's attractive, well-priced entertainment!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Logging mostly weekend miles since it rolled out of Penske Chevrolet's Indianapolis showroom, this awesome, 1-owner coupe is a spotless and lust worthy approach to the ultimate modern enthusiast's car. Super clean Summit White 2-stage, freshly detailed with Satin Black stripes by our own RKM Performance Center, could be considered an aggressive take on the beloved Storm Trooper craze that's currently permeating the hobby. Naturally, the car's slick, showroom-fresh fit is as close to perfect as factory fodder can get. Smoked maker lamps, blackout taillight trim and monochromatic emblems combine with a ZL1 grille and optional RS aesthetics to highlight the previous owner's intense focus on details. And honestly, with so few miles on the clock, this pristine Chevy just hasn't had the opportunity to find any significant trouble on the street or in the ditch. It's nice to see that, in a galaxy that continues to move further and further from performance, there are still aftermarket-supported options that elevate fun and style above all else!

ENGINE

Speaking of fun, this Camaro's thoroughly tweaked mill ensures plenty of tail-twisting laughs thanks to the 479 horsepower and 451 lb./ft. of torque the car channels directly through its rear tires. GM Powertrain invested a great deal of time and research into getting the most out of its Gen IV small block, and it definitely shows. Changes started with a 20% stronger casting, featuring an increased bore of 103.25mm. Focus was then shifted to flow efficiency, resulting in the use of rectangle-port heads and an all-new intake manifold. Factor in a new piston design, and injectors borrowed from the brutal LS7, and you get a very potent street car that happily doubles as an everyday commuter. Of course, as I mentioned, this Chevy is a take on the ultimate modern enthusiast's car. And that's how it came to be paired with a roster of first-class aftermarket componentry. Up top, a Roto-Fab Cold Air Kit utilizes an Advanced Flow Engineering filter to feed a spiral-ported VMAX throttle body and ported VMAX intake. That intake sets up factory LS3 heads, which hang a Comp Cam Trunion upgrade kit and Total Engine Airflow GM LSX springs above a custom Comp cam that was fitted by Mike Norris Motorsports. That cam spins a Summit Racing underdrive pulley between stainless Kooks headers and an Apex Motorsports catch can. And everything communicates well thanks to a custom Mike Norris Motorsports dyno tune.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Take a look under this Chevy and you'll find a substantially upgraded chassis that's clean, proven and ready to pound the pavement. Side step the car's third pedal and a tough hydraulic clutch engages a slick-shifting Tremec 6060 6-speed. That transmission is hooked to a GM Performance Parts ZL1 driveline upgrade, which spins buff, 3.73 gears. Built around that driveline is a Nurburgring-tested independent performance suspension that, with the help of UMI Toe Rods, UMI Trailing Arms, polyurethane bushings and Pedders adjustable coil-overs, is capable of pulling almost 1 g through corners. Variable-ratio, speed-sensitive power steering, big Brembo calipers and giant, drilled and slotted rotors combine with factory ABS and electronic brake distribution to ensure this is the best handling Camaro to date. GM's Stabilitrak traction and stability control system works with a 6-speed Camaro SS-exclusive launch control system to keep the power safe and manageable. A sweet but equally brutal soundtrack is piped through 3-inch collectors to remote-controlled Quick Time Performance cutouts, or Kooks 3-inch stainless pipes that hang an X-shaped crossover in front of 3-inch Flowmaster Pro Series mufflers and polished stainless tips. And the car's “CHEVROLET” branded calipers are fronted by 20-inch TSW Nurburgrings, which spin 275/40 Pirelli P Zeros in front of 305/35 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials.

INTERIOR

Inside this pristine Camaro you'll find a factory-spec interior that displays very little wear. The car's cloth, French-stitched seats are supple, supportive and near perfect in every way. The dash hangs traditional, silver-trimmed gauges around a standard Driver Information Center. At the center of that dash, controls for a satellite-capable, MP3-compatible sound system ride above factory 4-pack accessory gauges and a billet MGW shifter. Below those gauges, like-new carpet is protected by color-keyed floor mats and bright Chevy sill plates. Opposite that carpet, a self-dimming mirror positions GM's award winning OnStar service in front of a factory-optioned sunroof. In front of the driver, an ornate steering wheel spins buttons for the car's standard cruise control around a standard tilt and telescoping column. Behind the passengers, a surprisingly spacious trunk features enough room for a weekend's worth of luggage. And naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect in a high dollar muscle car are present and accounted for including: power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, a power driver's seat and Remote Keyless Entry.
