Grab a friend or three and take a stroll through the produce bays, it's worth the trip. Share a case of citrus fruit or mangoes for a deal grocery stores can't beat.

The place to buy all your fresh produce, fruits and beverages.
This place is HUGE with many vendors offering so many fresh products .
Can be a challenge to find parking but once you are in, you WILL walk away a happy customer.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 1 - Jan 3, 2022
I never knew they had this until my cousin told me. I decided to take a trip to this market this past weekend and it is amazing.
So much fruit and veggies and for amazing prices. They are usually in bulk so be prepared. They will even deliver to your car since they are heavy.
I got 3 lbs of ginger for $7, a crate of celery for $17, and a crate of strawberries for $20.
So many different vendors so you can always go to next vendor to see if you can get it cheaper.
Some vendors look more free than others so I definitely think you should walk around first before committing.
Also, don't forget your cash...they do not accept plastic!!!Helpful 12Thanks 1Love this 7Oh no 0 - Yang Y.South Montebello, Monterey Park, CA071Nov 4, 2023

I'm a commercial supplier and not a member of the general public. Traditionally jobbers - who sold cash and carry' , these days most of the business is wholesale - they deliver a take billing. They also work while most folks sleep, so trucks can move quicker in an out down town. The busy hours are 2-7AM. At 7 most of the buying is done , the merchandise is being put away, and the people of the market return to the sales and dispatch offices. Although the will sell 'onesy, twosy' to the general public, its not their main business. Not a lot of parking.

Hmmmmmmm, pretty much everyone has the same thing and the prices are the same. If you go KNOW what you're looking for. Kinda not the cleanest environment so so good looking for a Farmers Market or While Foods aesthetic and tbh people were kinda standoffish with me and I can only assume it was because I'm a "Sista" but I pushed through... produce more top notch. I'm still searching for that. Parking horrible.

$14 for 14 pineapples? This is the place you read about in your math book problems.
My friends and I got here before 6AM and walked around the various vendors to compare prices and goods. Definitely worth checking out if you like exotic fruits and plan on sharing the bulk size with friends and family to save money.
Tip: Don't bother trying to park where the market is. There are too many people walking around, forklifts driving in and out, and trucks stopped trying to load up their goods.Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0 - Linda K.El Sereno, Los Angeles, CA510Oct 1, 2021
Open to public. Enter off of E 8th St and S Alameda St, gate 1 entrance to get a parking permit from security guard. Great selection and price for produce in bulk. Make sure to come early, around 3am seems the best.

This is a commercial wholesale market for restaurants, grocery stores, catering companies, etc. This is not a produce market for small families; however, if you can take down 50 pounds of apples before they go bad, then go for it. Fork lifts, pallet jacks, and fast walking blue collar men barrel down concrete dock-high loading areas. If you don't watch out you can get hurt.
The place is closed on Sundays and generally open from midnight to 8 M-Sa. Most vendors are open between 1 am and 7 am. It seems to be busiest between 2 and 5.
There aren't many places like this in LA, or even the world. It's a neat place to explore and if you need to buy in bulk you will save some serious $. Today I got a flat of organic raspberries for $25 (12 x 6oz), 12 champagne mangos for $6, 15 lb of baby bananas for $10 and 5 lbs of roasted almonds for $25.Helpful 21Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0
