What do kids do at a Mad Science birthday party?

The party will start with interactive experiments, performed by the Mad Scientist, designed to entertain and educate the kids. The birthday child will even be given the opportunity to assist! All guests will make their own take-home experiment. If you have booked a Super or Deluxe party, the Grand Finale will wrap up the celebration.

How far in advance do I need to book my party?

Our party schedule fills up quickly. We suggest you book well in advance to get the date and time you want. Generally, at least 4 weeks in advance is recommended.

What kind of space or equipment do I need to provide?

You will need to provide a 4-6ft. table, access to electrical outlets & water. The Mad Scientist’s table should be placed 1-2ft. in front of the seated kids. Our parties are best performed indoors. Please see our list of suggested alternate venues if you don’t want to host the party at your house.

What is needed for the grand finale options?

Bubbling potions - access to electricity & water needed. Rocket launch - outdoor space clear of trees & power lines needed. Cotton candy - 2nd table needed. Hovercraft rides - smooth surface of 15-20sq ft & access to electricity needed, hovercraft has 100lb weight limit, and a 15 child limit.

Once I have scheduled my party, can I make changes to it later?

Any changes must be made at least 3 business days before your party. Also, if adding Goody Bags to your party, we ask that you give us at least 3 days’ notice so we can have them prepared and ready for your Mad Scientist.

When do I pay?

A 50% deposit is required to book your party. The remaining balance is due at the end of your party. Final payment may be given to your Mad Scientist via cash or check, or we can charge the credit card we have on file the Monday following your party.

What is your policy on tipping?

If you think your Mad Scientist did a good job, gratuity is very much appreciated! 15%-20% is customary for outstanding service. We do ask that you keep your tip and final payment to Mad Science separate. Tips may only be accepted in cash.

Will I receive a refund on my deposit if I need to cancel my party?

Cancellations made at least one week prior to your party will be subject to a $15 cancellation charge. There are no refunds for cancellations within 7 days of your party, but you may reschedule and apply any deposits toward an alternate party date, if available.
